Stipulative Definitions: Comprehensive Metaphysical View and the Metaphysical Fundamental
A metaphysical view concerns the foundations of Being and seeks to describe them.
Such a view is comprehensive if a particular being or a set of beings is regarded as so fundamental that it ontologically grounds everything in Being.
Examples of comprehensive metaphysical views include idealism and panpsychism.
Strict idealism postulates that consciousness is the most fundamental in Being and that everything is ontologically grounded in it.
Strict panpsychism postulates that both consciousness and something else are equally ontologically fundamental.
I stipulatively refer to that which is regarded as fundamental within a comprehensive metaphysical view as the metaphysical fundamental.
The metaphysical fundamental is the fundamental principle of the comprehensive metaphysical view that it grounds.
